biocat

Biocat is the driving force behind the healthcare innovation ecosystem in Catalonia, working to scale and consolidate the life sciences and healthcare sector, generating social and economic impact, and positioning the BioRegion of Catalonia as an international benchmark. Established in 2006 at the initiative of the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council, Biocat is a public-private foundation with governance bodies comprising representatives from all stakeholders, both public and private.

Montserrat Daban Marín

Director of Strategic Foresight and International Relations at Biocat

My background is Biology with a PhD in Molecular Biology, a Master’s Degree in Science Communication, an Executive Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs. I have been a researcher in Life Sciences for 12 years in several countries, including US. I have been at Biocat for almost 20 years building a life sciences ecosystem and have also acted as adviser on innovation and internationalisation for the Government of Catalonia. I’m currently President of the Council of European BioRegions, Member of the Board of Directors of the European Clusters Allilance (ECA ). EIT Health Innostars Expert and Mentor. My interests are Communication, Connections, Strategy, Ecosystems, Innovation, Internationalisation, Gender, Open Science, Impact Assessment, Transformation, Digitalisation.

Júlia Valls

Project Manager at Biocat

I have experience in international business, and healthcare management with a focus in health innovation. I have recently graduated from the Master in Healthcare Management from the Erasmus Rotterdam University.  I have worked in regional and national projects promoting green and technological solutions to Catalan companies. I have recently started as a Project Manager at Biocat in the Strategic Analysis and International Relations Department.
